Coaches and Staff

Introduction

He meant it when He said it: "Apart from Me you can do nothing, but with God all things are possible!" For our sons, He speaks to each of them through their abilities as basketball players. Our vision is to help our sons maximize their basketball talents, not apart from God but with Him. This is the vision and purpose of Kingdom Athletes: AAU basketball teams that weave together basketball excellence with our sons' life and growth within the Kingdom of God.

Leadership

Coach Chad WilkersonKingdom Athletes is led and inspired by its Head Coach, Chad Wilkerson. A former professional basketball player for six years, Coach Wilkerson was the conference player of the year at Oral Roberts University and twice led the State of Texas in scoring while in high school.

As a college and professional basketball player, Coach Wilkerson was coached by, among others, Bill Self and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. As a basketball coach, Coach Wilkerson led High Point Christian Academy to a #4 state ranking and had one of his players named All-State and two named All-Conference. One of his players was also named to the first team High Point Enterprise All Triad Team. He has also coached prominent AAU basketball teams for several years at the highest levels, including the 2009 Kingdom Athletes U-15 and U-13 teams.

Through high level AAU basketball, Coach Wilkerson's deeply-held vision is to coach and lead a group of young men to the very highest levels of basketball excellence and achievement. A man of deep integrity, Coach Wilkerson also aims to prepare his players for excellent college educations as student-athletes and possibly beyond college into careers as professional athletes. All of this will take place while our players grow and mature in their walk with God.

Coach Knox attended Campbell University, where he played as a member of the Fighting Camels from 1998-2000. Playing as a forward, Tyreck was the conference leader in blocks (33) during the 1998-1999 season.

Coach Knox has been instrumental in the success of Kingdom Athlete's basketball program and is Coach Wilkerson's right hand man.

Commitment

Kingdom Athletes provides a long-term commitment to its players and families. Specifically, Kingdom Athletes has established our basketball teams as our focal point to lead our young men in their athletic and spiritual development, during the middle school years, through high school and into college. Stability and consistency are a hallmark of Kingdom Athletes as this journey is undertaken.

Administration

Kingdom Athletes' Director of Administration will be Brian Gavigan, a High Point corporate and business attorney. Mr. Gavigan will oversee facility and equipment management, Kingdom Athletes' website, tournament schedule and entry, team finances, and sponsor relationships. Mr. Gavigan is also well versed in AAU and NCAA rules and regulations concerning student athletes and associated legal matters.
